At work the other day I was playing 'Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell' and one of the guys I work with (a TECHNO DJ [img]confused.gif[/img] ) asked me who I was playing. I told him Social D and he said that they sounded like THE OFFSPRING [img]graemlins/grrr.gif[/img] ! Is this just wrong to anybody else (okay, stupid question)? I explained to him that they were from the same scene but had about 15 years sepaerating them. "But they don't sound punk" he said [img]graemlins/gulp.gif[/img] . Some people are fucked!

That is funny because they share management.

Also you know we as "punk" afficionado's we don't know shit about techno. I can't tell house from progressive house or trance from progressive trance or sometimes one electronica genre to the next. All I know is some of it I like and some of it I don't. Only after buying some turntables and trying to mix records back and forth I started respecting DJ's and giving a shit about it though. Every thing you need to learn about music theory can be learned though from buying records and trying to spin them

I would probably take it as a complement that the weren't considered "punk". It means they are original and different from every other so-called punk band.
